Florentina is a happy, determined and sassy 4 year old who is a very energetic, outdoor-loving little girl who is pony mad!

On Friday 21st May 2021, just 5 days before Florentina's 4th birthday, we got the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that has a 50-60% chance of long-term survival, but also carries a high risk of relapse which if happens survival rates dramatically decrease. We are fundraising for further treatment not available in the UK to take Florentina to The New York cancer centre to hopefully have the bivalent vaccine, it is the only pediatric tumour vaccine in existence, this would maximum the survival rate in the event of a relapse.

We have been in Great Ormond Street hospital for 3 weeks now and Florentina has already undergone many different scans and biopsies, and she has a long treatment plan ahead for the next 14-18 months. She is on her 3rd session of her chemotherapy treatment which she has to have every 10 days, and has at least 6-8 inductionary chemo left. We are then hoping the tumour will have shrunk enough to have an operation to remove it. She will therefore face further treatments to target any remaining cancer cells that might still be present with high dose Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Biological and Immunotherapy and Stem Cell Replacement. She has a long road ahead of her but Kevin & I are so unbelievably proud of how well she is coping, she's showing great strength and determination.

We have had so much love and support around us from friends & family it's been overwhelming, it has given us the strength we need to battle on through and beat this.

My brother James has entered the Swim Serpentine which takes place on 18th September 2021 in Hyde Park, organised by the Children with Cancer UK charity. He will be swimming 2 miles in open water to help raise funds for Florentina.
