Family Funday

The preparation for the fun day was very hectic and to begin this report I would like to thank each and everyone of the people who helped us make the day possible.

The Thursday and Friday before the day was horrendous, with so much rain that we were getting concerned for how we would cope on the day. We were putting up marquees and setting up the field in very wet conditions but everybody remained positive remembering why we were actually doing the event in the first place.

On the morning of the Saturday, finally we began to believe that the rain might hold off and we could enjoy the day. Once the gates opened at 12 noon it was amazing so many people begin to arrive. It was overwhelming, all these people turning out to support Florentina! The car park was heaving and the footfall into the field continued to increase steadily for a couple of hours. Each of the stalls had queues and everybody enjoyed an afternoon of fun.

The raffle was drawn at 4pm and we were fortunate that Florentina was well enough to join us on a live link to draw the first 3 prizes, all three numbers were held by people at the fun day so that was fabulous. There were lots of other prizes that many people and small businesses had donated, we will post a link to the ticket numbers and prizes during the next few days.

The total raised during the day was in excess of £8,100 which is astounding! So many people donating and supporting our day made the whole effort so rewarding. We will be sending the money to Just Giving which will then increase our fundraising to £60,000, which will be close to a quarter of the target which is required for the further treatment Florentina will need.
